Why We Ask for ID and How We Use It

Like all hotels, we require the guest to show a valid non-redacted ID to gain entrance to our units. The reason we do this is because:

  • We need to verify the guest is over 18 and a legal adult.
  • We verify that the ID has not expired
  • We verify that the ID is not fake
  • We need to verify that no one stole your credit card and are booking rooms using your name. The name on the ID must match the name on the booking and upon check-in we check to see that the picture on the ID matches the person entering the unit.
  • We need to know who we are allowing into our home in case there’s issues of any kind.
  • We need to know where to send anything important left in the unit, in the case that the phone number on the booking wasn’t entered correctly. This happens more often than you think.
  • If guests are booking on other people’s behalf, we also ask for the ID of the responsible adult that’s staying in the unit as well as their cell number. We send an introduction text to that number so that the guests in the unit have a way to communicate with us for any reason. In this scenario, the guests in the unit don’t have access to chat with us because they were not the ones that performed the booking and we want to be sure we can communicate with each other.
  • The image of your ID is not kept on-file to protect your privacy. We discard it and do not store it on our computing devices. If you are a repeat guest, we will ask for your ID again.
  • Partners like Airbnb and VRBO verify your identity when you create your account. They do not share the ID that you used to verify your identity with us for privacy reasons between you and them. However, we need to see on your profile that it states “IDENTITY VERIFIED” so that the name you’ve used with them is the same as the name you’re using with us.

The security of our guests and staff are of the utmost importance to us. We maintain these rules to maintain a high level of security for everyone involved.
